Hello and Welcome
Welcome to the Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu’s Cardiology Blog Archives. Here you will find information about Cardiology to increase your knowledge.
Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu grew up with a love of science and a deep curiosity about how the body works. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn and completed fellowships in clinical cardiology, electrophysiology, and interventional cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology.
For more than 35 years, Dr. Mallavarapu has performed over 12,000 cardiac catheterization procedures. He has also taught medical students and residents, earning recognition as Best Clinical Faculty Teacher of the Year. His research on heart attack recovery and arrhythmia has been published in leading medical journals.
But his most meaningful work has been in a rural community where he served as the only interventional cardiologist for nearly a decade. He took calls around the clock and built a program that now performs roughly 1% of all emergency heart attack procedures in New York State. In 2023, he received the Golden Stethoscope Award — a recognition nominated by his own colleagues for his kindness and teamwork.
Dr. Mallavarapu started this blog because he believes patients deserve better than confusing explanations. Cardiology is his way of reaching beyond the exam room to help you take charge of your heart health.
